Red Top Weekend

Every October, the Atlanta Marriage Encounter community heads north to Red Top State Park. You and your family and friends are all invited for the weekend, or you can just come for the day on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Community and fellowship with other families awaits you!

What goes on at Red Top you wonder??? Well lots of things happen on the weekend. The scheduled things include a pot luck dinner Friday evening & a pig roast feast with all the fixing’s Saturday. There will be lots of children’s activities, trick-or-treating (around the cabins) and just old fashion fun! The unscheduled events are left to your imagination. Lodging and the Park Pass are your only cost if you decide to stay. The rest of the weekend’s activities are paid for through our silent & live auctions held on Saturday. All Cabins have two bedrooms (with two full beds in each bedroom), a couch, a full kitchen, living area and one or two bathrooms. Cabins are priced according to the number of bathrooms. Registration will be open for Major Volunteers as pre-registration starting in March through July 1, to guarantee their cabin reservations. After July 1, registration will be open for all ME families wanting a cabin. We will have a random lottery for this group on August 1st. We will create a waiting list for the rest. THE TOTAL COST of the cabin MUST be paid in full by August 31st. If payment is not received by this date, you will loose your reservation, so start saving your pennies now. The prices will go up $5.00 after August 31st. Please note that if paying by credit card, we will have to add a small fee for this too. These changes are mostly due to circumstances beyond our control. The GA Stare Parks now require us to pay half of the cost of the cabins when we reserved them last November. We have deferred this payment for you until August 31st. If you don’t want to stay in a cabin or you don’t get a cabin, Red Top State Park has tent camping and RV camping available. We will also be getting a special rate from a local motel. There will be more info to come on these options.

At this time, we are looking for volunteers to run/coordinate certain aspects of Red Top. If you want to help, but don’t know what there is to do or what you want to do, please let this be known. We are so excited of the possibilities that this year’s Red Top event holds. We are putting our hearts and souls into planning Red Top this year, and we pray it will reflect. Help us make this year the best ever!
